2011 is here...time for an update!

Hello Blue Earth County 4-Her’s,
You are receiving this email because you or your child signed up for the Dog Project. We are in the process of arranging the dog training schedule for spring/summer and need your input. Please let me know if you will NOT be training a dog this year so I can remove you from the training list and the training schedule.

If you are interested in taking advantage of the free dog training offered by great trainers in Mankato for 4-H, please respond to this email with the following information:
Name of 4-Her
Grade level
Years of dog training experience
Areas of interest (beginners can train in Obedience and Showmanship, others can participate in those as well as Rally and Agility)

We usually meet in Mankato at the Key City Kennel Club on Tuesday evenings/nights for training (agility meets on Mondays). You do not have to train a dog in order to exhibit a Dog Project at the fair (you can take a display board, poster, or other item related to the dog project). However, this training opportunity is wonderful for the kids and helps to form a bond between the dog and handler. We use positive reinforcement training methods and dogs at all levels of training and abilities are welcome.
Now is also the time to print and have your vet complete your dog’s IDA form. You MUST have this completed to attend training. You can find this form on the MN 4-H website.

Thanks and looking forward to another great year,
Chris Oldenburg
